Start with what you want to happen.

RelayAsk privately finds the people and chooses the simplest way to bring them together.

1

Write one Ask

Say what you want to happen in one sentence. RelayAsk may ask for a rough place so it can keep local asks local.

2

RelayAsk finds relevant people

It privately chooses a small set of people using what they asked for, rough place, timing, and what led to useful outcomes before. There is no feed or directory.

3

People respond or relay

A recipient can answer, offer help, suggest somebody, pass the Ask closer, or decline without pressure.

4

Both sides choose to connect

For an introduction, both people agree separately before either email address is shared.

5

Tell us what happened

A private one-tap outcome helps RelayAsk learn which connections are useful.

Three ways people come together

An invitation is how an Ask reaches someone. An answer, suggestion, or relay is a response. When RelayAsk brings people together, it opens one of these three outcomes.

Introduction

Contact exchange requiring both people’s approval.

Relay Chat

Private one-to-one conversation.

Gathering

Private multi-person conversation.

RelayAsk chooses from the Ask itself. One person can become an Introduction or Relay Chat. Several people become a Gathering, and new relevant people can join that same private conversation later.

Private from the start

Every Ask is delivered directly to a small set of relevant people. There is no public Ask list, no people directory, and no profile to browse. A person sees an Ask only when RelayAsk sends it to them or someone passes them a secure relay link.

The Relay Chat opens. Contact details stay private.

Publishing an active Ask lets RelayAsk place you in a first-name-only Relay Chat or Gathering with people whose active Asks point to the same outcome. Email addresses remain hidden. Anyone can leave, and a separate contact exchange still requires the people involved to choose it.

What RelayAsk is not

  • Not a social feed, a profile network, or a directory of people.
  • Not a public events directory. A Gathering is a private conversation formed around relevant active Asks.
  • Not an endorsement. RelayAsk opens a relevant private space; people decide what happens next and can leave at any time.
  • Not a verification service. RelayAsk does not check identity, run background checks, or guarantee anyone’s safety or suitability.

Private relays have a small hop limit, cannot loop through somebody already in the chain, and use secure access links that expire automatically. The Ask itself stays open until its author closes it or RelayAsk blocks it for safety. Passing an Ask on is never an endorsement.
